Short Rambles
  • Leaders: Alan & Pauline
  • Area: Burford
  • Start: 10.00 a.m.
  • Distance: 6 miles / 9.6 kms
  • Terrain: Fairly flat with two gentle rises, 6 stiles.
  • Lunch: 1.00pm. Suggest The Mermaid, 78 High Street, Burford OX18 4QF, but there are plenty of alternatives.
  • Description:

    “This is an easy walk through lovely Cotswold countryside. As well as visiting the Wool Church in Burford, we shall also call at the ancient church of St Oswald’s in Widford, built on the site of a Roman Villa. Inside, there are wall paintings dating back to 1340. From Widford, an abandoned medieval village, we follow the River Windrush back to Burford.”
