Is it a sign?
Hopefully you will have seen the press coverage in the Evesham Journal and Evesham Observer detailing the efforts of Evesham Rambling Club’s working party as they carried out a number of projects on Public Rights of Way in conjunction with the Worcestershire County Council Countryside team.
Newspaper articles are short lived and so it was decided that it would be a good idea to mark the excellent work we carry out in Worcestershire by adding small signs, similar to way marker discs, to promote our club’s work. Unfortunately these sorts of signs do not come cheaply and understandably the WCC Countryside team cannot fund the purchase.
The footpaths of Worcestershire are an important resource for our county and well worth retaining and maintaining. As a very active club, we enjoy this amenity, but our finances will not stretch to funding the signs. We therefore approached five county councillors, in whose wards the working party has carried out significant work, and we are happy to report that so far, four have provided funding.
The signs have now been purchased and members of the team have been out adding them to projects we have already completed. In the future, when we build a bridge or install a kissing gate, we will be able to attach one of the signs, letting walkers know that Evesham Rambling Club has been busy on their patch.
